Maintenance

The lifespan of eyeglasses not only depends on the quality of materials, but also the maintenance. Usually, a pair of eyeglasses has an average lifespan of 2 years. We suggest a new pair of glasses every two years. Because the old lenses will have wear, which will cause them not to be as clear as a new pair of glasses would be. Daily wear will decrease the light transmittance of lenses and abrade coatings. Also, your visual comfort will be affected by the aging of the glasses.

Best practices in taking care of your glasses.

1.  When putting your glasses on or taking them off, please use a hand on each arm of the glasses. When taking off or putting on with one hand there is force placed on the one arm and causes the arm(s) to stretch out and the frame will become loose and not stay in place as well.

2.  Put your glasses in box with the lenses upwards to avoid scratches when you do not use them. This keeps them from rubbing against the bottom of the case and getting scratches on the lenses.

3.  When cleaning your glasses, we recommend using a dry or wet cleaning cloth. Please lightly wipe lenses first to remove any debris that might be on the lenses using careful and gentle movements. Improper force will damage the coating of the lens. Do Not use anything with alcohol to clean eyeglasses as it can damage the lenses.

4.  Rimless glasses and semi-rimless glasses are more fragile than full frame glasses. So please be more careful. The screws of rimless glasses are prone to get loose. Please use our screwdriver to tighten them up periodically. For semi-rimless glasses, the nylon string is fragile, and the lens can drop/pop out. So, it is not recommended to apply pressure upon the lens.

5.  If your glasses come in contact with water, sweat or other liquids, please clean and dry the glasses with the cloth. It's very crucial for metal frames or nose pads to avoid corrosion.

6.  Don't wear your glasses on the top of your head. That will likely stretch the frame and cause it not to fit well. Also, there's the possibility of them falling off and getting damaged by wearing them like that.

7.  Avoid high temperatures such as leaving them on the dashboard of your car. Especially in the summer, eyeglasses left in the car will get exposed to direct sunlight. Excessive heat can damage eyeglass lenses as well as the coatings. Heat can also cause plastic frames to become warped and/or discolored.
